Isolation Diving in EXTREME ENVIRONMENTs
The primary challenge of the Steep N’ Deep Project is to safely perform expeditionary commercial research diving operations under the compounding hostile conditions imposed by unforgiving remote environments. In addition to experimental methods and equipment that has never been tested under these conditions, we must overcome the various physical and mental impairments from the contrasting extremes of altitude and unexplored icy depths of unstable glacial systems. Transporting a state-of-the-art diving research laboratory on foot into the planet's most remote waters is a perilous art form in itself, requiring meticulously creative equipment choices, athleticism, and fierce determination. The environmental conditions are a formidable adversary and must be treated with vigilance and respectful humility to operate safely. We are vastly exceeding the known limits of altitude diving and must do so with caution. We are minimizing these risks by collaborating with the best and brightest individuals, institutions, and equipment designers. This endeavor requires every piece of equipment to excel under intensely rugged field-testing and we shall demonstrate its superior quality and suitability for any mission, anywhere.
