A year of diving on the West Coast
Bourton and Zac spent over a year diving non-stop just off the western coast of Vancouver Island and based from Tofino, BC. This was very unique for commercial divers as most commercial work is not performed mid-water. The average depth on the sites we were diving was 350-500 feet deep, and the conditions are extremely challenging at times. Ripping currents, darkness, very low visibility, frigid water and working amongst miles and miles of rope, netting and all sorts or other nasties that want to entangle a diver and trap him on the bottom. It made us very methodical and safety conscious about any and all dives we undertake. It was also amazing to live out at the end of the road in "Tuff City", spending our days diving, surfing, adventuring and expedition planning.
